SUPREME COURT OF LOUISIANA
NO. 20

I
N RE: MAYA GUNTZ FLOWERS
AT
TORNEY DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING
P
ER CURIAM
On
November 3, 2021, we suspended respondent from the practice of law for
one year and one day, fully deferred, subject to a two-year period of supervised
probation, based upon allegations that she mismanaged her client trust account. In
re: Flowers, 21-1331 (La. 11/3/21), 326 So. 3d 880. The terms of respondent’s
probation included a condition that she submit to semi-annual trust account auditing.
Prior to the expiration of th e probationary period, the parties filed a joint
motion seeking to extend respondent’s probation for a period of one year. In support,
they assert the extension is warranted to address some issues uncovered during the
prior trust account audits.
In light of t hese circumstances, w e agree that the requested extensi on is
appropriate. Accordingly, we will extend respondent’s probation for an additional
year, subject to all conditions of probation imposed by our November 3, 2021 order
and by the January 12, 2022 probation agreement, specifically that respondent
continue to submit semi-annual trust account audit reports to the Office of
Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”).
DE
CREE

of one year . All conditions of probation imposed by our November 3, 2021 order
and by the January 12, 2022 probation agreement shall remain in full force and effect
during the extended probationary period. Any failure by respondent to comply with
these conditions or any other misconduct during the probationary period may be
grounds for revocation of probation and the imposition of the previously -deferred
suspension or other discipline, as appropriate.
